Anand Jon Alexander has been known until now because of his being an award-winning fashion designer. But it seems that he will be shortly forgotten, because of a lawsuit that is very likely to stain his image simply forever.
Anand Jon Alexander has been accused of sexually assaulting 18 young models in California and he has been charged with assaulting nine more women in New York, as the prosecutors have revealed on Wednesday.
According to the prosecutors, A Manhattan grand jury indicted Anand Jon Alexander, who is only 33 years old, with sodomy, rape and other charges involving young girls and women between 2002 and 2006.
The Indian-born fashion designer has created clothes for very important and famous persons such as the Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani, Paris Hilton, Donald Trump, Mary J. Blige, Alanis Morissette and others. However, he is now in a Los Angeles County Jail and he is waiting for his trial.
“As he has in the past, (Alexander) has asserted his innocence,” Donald Marks, Alexander’s lawyer in California, said. In October, the designer pleaded not guilty to the California charges, but he has not posted the $2.1 million bail that a California judge set for him. If he did this, he might have been extradited to New York, according to the prosecutors.

The two-week-old twin children of actor Dennis Quaid are currently recovering in a Los Angeles hospital, after they have been mistakenly given a large overdose of a blood thinning drug.
Although it is one of the United States leading hospitals, the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center has to officially apologize on Wednesday for what it called the “preventable error” that led to the actor’s children and another unidentified child being given 10,000 units of an anti-coagulant compound called Heparin, instead of the normal 10 units dose that is usually given to babies.
Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace Quaid were born via a surrogate mother on November 8, 2007.
A publicist for Dennis Quaid and his wife, Kimberley Buffington, said that the couple “appreciate everyone’s thoughts and prayers, and hope they can maintain their privacy during this difficult time.”
The actor married Kimberley Buffington in 2004, after he had broken up with his previous wife, actress Meg Ryan. Quaid is famous for his roles from “The Parent Trap” and “The Rookie”.
According to Doctor Michael Langberg, Cedars-Sinai’s chief medical officer, the actor’s children and the other child affected by this serious medical mistake were recovering without any apparent ill effects after being treated with another drug that had to reverse the effects of Heparin.
Michael Langberg said that the overdose of Heparin that caused the babies to “bleed out” on Sunday, as TMZ.com reported, was the result of a human error by the hospital staff and that investigations are being currently conducted by both the hospital and the Los Angeles health authorities.
“This was a preventable error, involving a failure to follow our standard policies and procedures, and there is no excuse for that to occur at Cedars-Sinai. Although it appears at this point that there was no harm to any patient, we take this situation very seriously,” Michael Langberg said.

A portrait of Queen Elizabeth I that is thought to be the earliest such piece that was commissioned to help the English monarch “advertise” herself to potential suitors was sold yesterday for the huge amount of 2.6 million pounds, or $5.3 million.
The life-sized painting was created by an artist from Antwerp, Steven van der Meulen, who later became an important English court painter.
Van der Meulen’s old painting was expected to fetch between 700,000 and one million pounds, according to auctioneer Sotheby, so the amount of 2.6 million pounds seems to have been incredible even for the auctioneers.
“Like her father, Henry VIII, she was incredibly conscious of how important her image was,” Emmeline Hallmark, the head of the Sotheby’s British painting department, said, adding also that “This painting is so pretty and decorative, and the symbolism alludes to the fact that she is in the ripeness of her life.” Emmeline Hallmark said that the painting is likely to have been made when Queen Elizabeth I was around 30 years old.
The painting that was sold for 2.6 million pounds is almost two meters tall and depicts the pale-skinned queen standing in a crimson satin dress adorned with colored gems and pearls.
Elizabeth had in her right hand a carnation, which Emmeline Hallmark said that could symbolize a future betrothal. In her left hand she had a glove, which symbols power and health.
The entire portrait was emphasizing her youthful appearance and that the depiction of fruit and scented flowers in the background reinforced her allure.

Angelina Jolie’s partner, Brad Pitt, stepped out of Universal’s political thriller “State of Play” reportedly because of script concerns. The popular actor and the movie’s director Kevin Macdonald (“The Last King of Scotland) had met for several times this month, but it seems that Macdonald’s attempts to iron out these concerns weren’t able to convince Brad Pitt to join his cast.
The movie’s script could not be worked on because of the Hollywood screenwriter’s strike.
After Brad Pitt has now officially stepped out of the movie project, Universal has already started to look for an actor to replace Pitt. Sources have reported that the studio would like to welcome aboard its movie’s cast team actor Johnny Depp, whose movie “Shantaram” has just got postponed at Warner Bros., or Russell Crow.
Brad Pitt was set to star alongside actors like Oscar-winning Helen Mirren, Edward Norton, Rachel McAdams, Robin Wright Penn, Jason Bateman and others in the Matthew Michael Carnahan-scripted adaptation of the British miniseries. He was to play the role of a political consulant-turned-journalist who headed a newspaper’s murder investigation involving a fast-rising politician, played by Edward Norton.
Because of the fact Brad Pitt changed his mind and stepped out of the movie project, he might be sued by the studio.
Universal confirmed the actor’s departure through the following statement: “Brad Pitt has left the Universal Pictures production of ‘State of Play.’ We remain committed to this project and to the filmmakers, cast members, crew and others who are also involved in making the movie. We reserve all rights in this matter.”

The popular frontman of Culture Club, Boy George, appeared yesterday in a London court after he had been charged with the false imprisonment of a male escort.
Dressed in a black jacket and shirt, the singer had to fight through a huge media scrum after a minute-long hearing during which he had spoken only for confirming his name and date of birth.
The 46-years-old singer was released on bail and had also to promise that he wouldn’t contact the alleged victim.
The alleged offence was said to have taken place at the singer’s home in east London in April 2007 and the prosecutor Nicholas Paul told the court that the case centered on an “allegation of false imprisonment”, but he did not provide other details about the incident.
Boy George did not enter a plea and he was scheduled to appear again at Snarebrook Crown Court on February 25, 2008. When he left the court, he was surrounded by reporters and photographers, because of whom it took six burly policemen to force a way through the crowd to the singer’s car.
However, Boy George did not make any comment outside the court.

James Marsden has drawn the public’s attention thanks to his role as Cyclops in the “X-Men” fantasy-action movie series, but now it seems that he will have the chance to star opposite one of the most beautiful and famous actresses of all times! That is Cameron Diaz.
James Marsden has been announced to be in final negotiations with the producers of the horror movie “The Box”.

As the “Spider-Man” installments have been a real hit, and the “Spider-Man” franchise still represents a gold mine, “Spider-Man 4” is coming up next. And as the fantasy and action movie’s producers have no time to waste, they have already hired a screenwriter for doing the job for “Spider-Man 4”.
And it will be the writer of the serial-killer thriller “Zodiac” that will write the scrip for “Spider-Man 4”. James Vanderbilt has been recently announced to take over from David Koepp, who worked on the first installments of Columbia Pictures’ billion-dollar franchise.
However, no deals been announced to have been made yet for bringing back the series’ director Sam Raimi or the popular “Spider-Man” stars actor Tobey Maguire and actress Kirsten Dunst.
Although the plot points are being closely guarded by the studio, it seems that the intent for the new installment is to scale back the story for including only two villains instead of repeating the “Spider-Man 3” model.
In the third installment of the “Spider-Man” franchise, the super-hero had to battle against a triumvirate of evil-doers in the forms of Goblin, Sandman and Venom. The installment grossed no less than $336.5 million domestically this year.
Although many writers have been considered for this fourth installment of the “Spider-Man” movie, James Vanderbilt seems to have been chosen among all of them for his character-driven approach to the story rather than a focus on the special effects of the action movie.
