The Cannes Film Festival to Turn 60

The famous Cannes Film Festival will have its 60th anniversary this year. That is why this year’s ceremony will be joined by many stars, as well as lesser-known names of the world of cinema and their fans.
The first movie that will be watched will be the Chinese director Wong Kar Wai’s English-language movie, “My Blueberry Nights”. The movie features important stars, such as singer Norah Jones and actors Natalie Portman and Jude Law.
The opening screening from Wednesday “My Blueberry Nights” will mark the opening of the 11-day important film festival hosted by the French Riviera resort. More than 20 films will take part in the most important worldwide film contest. This includes the films created by popular artists such as Quentin Tarantino, Emir Kusturica, Gus Van Sant, Alexander Sokurov, the Coen brothers and others.
The critics have already said about this year’s selection that it is quite one of the strongest in recent memory. Mark Cousins, a leading film critic and a Cannes veteran said: “I think this is probably the Cannes selection that has excited me most in a decade.” Cousins added that Van Sant, Kusturica, Wong and Sokurov have all been delivering “quality films over a number of years.”
