“Spider-Man 3″: The Box Office’s Hero for Another Weekend
The third part of the Spider-Man movie series has remained the box office’s hero for its second weekend, as the worldwide total for the movie has hit $622 million.
This has been the movie’s second weekend of release, during which it sold tickets of about $145.5 million: $85.5 million internationally and $60 million only for North America.
However, the weeks to come “Spider-Man” won’t be on the first position anymore, as “Shrek the Third” is to open, followed by the next weekend’s release, “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End”.
“Spider-Man 3” has been a great hit in North America, as the other two releases that rounded out the top three (“28 Weeks Later” and “Georgia Rule”) have sold only $10 million and $5.9 million, respectively.
After only 10 days from its release the North American total for “Spider-Man 3” stands at $242.1 million. The first two parts of the Spider-Man series had earned similar amounts of money back in 2002 and 2004.
