Helen Mirren Has Won the Best Actress Oscar
The British actress Helen Mirren has won the Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role, or the Best Actress, Oscar. Her playing Queen Elizabeth II in the royal drama “The Queen” has brought Mirren the Oscar and all that implicit glory!
Helen Mirren is 61 years old and she has been developing her career in television, on stage and in film. She has always enjoyed tremendous success, but now the Oscar has brought her two steps in front of the public.
In “The Queen” Mirren had to play a character struggling to deal with the death of Princess Diana, and with all her inner feelings.
Helen Mirren has been chosen to receive the Best Actress Oscar out of Penelope Cruz (“Volver”), Judi Dench (“Notes on a Scandal”), Meryl Streep (“The Devil Wears Prada”) and Kate Winslet (“Little Children”).
One does think that the big battle for the Oscar was between Meryl Streep and Helen Mirren. And it seems that it has been Mirren’s turn to win.
